Biography
Saludos!

My name is Alán Ruiz Berman, and I’m a multicultural, Mexican & American conservation professional with a genuine passion for bringing people of all backgrounds together at the interface of Art, Community-Building, Science, and Sustainable Development.

My international career has centered around helping everyday people actively understand, preserve, and protect their local habitats, including the floral, faunal, and human communities, and cultures, woven deeply into their rich, albeit well-worn fabric.

I have enjoyed the challenges of tackling a broad range of social, economic, and environmental challenges, and have done so in a wide range of jobs, including as a field-based researcher, research program coordinator, ecology teacher (K-12), and communications and development specialist in the nonprofit sector. I am also a lifelong environmental artist, activist, and storyteller who most enjoys using his endless creativity to make ecological knowledge and conservation practices more accessible, and equitably shared, among diverse institutions, individuals, and communities.
